
About the Role
Alex’s Mobile Auto Services is seeking an experienced Lead Hybrid Automotive Technician to perform advanced diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on hybrid and electric vehicles at customer locations. This role combines technical expertise with leadership and mentoring responsibilities, ensuring top-quality service in a mobile environment.
Requirements
Education & Certifications
High school diploma or GED required; associate degree in automotive technology or hybrid/electric vehicle technology preferred.
ASE certifications, especially Hybrid/Electric Vehicle (HEV) certifications, are highly recommended.
Manufacturer-specific hybrid/electric certifications (Toyota, Ford, GM, Tesla, etc.) are a strong plus.
Experience
Minimum of 5–7 years in automotive repair and diagnostics, including experience with hybrid and electric vehicles.
Prior experience as a lead or senior technician is preferred.
Proven ability to troubleshoot complex hybrid systems: electric motors, high-voltage batteries, regenerative braking, and power electronics.
Technical Skills
Advanced knowledge of hybrid and electric vehicle systems, including battery management, charging systems, and EV safety protocols.
Proficient with diagnostic tools, scan tools, and software specific to hybrid/electric vehicles.
Ability to read wiring diagrams, service manuals, and technical bulletins.
Familiarity with both mechanical and electrical repair procedures.
Leadership & Communication
Ability to supervise and mentor junior technicians.
Strong communication skills for explaining complex hybrid repairs to customers and team members.
Experience managing workflow, ensuring efficiency, and maintaining quality standards.
Safety & Compliance
Deep understanding of high-voltage safety protocols and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
Knowledge of environmental regulations related to battery disposal and hybrid vehicle servicing.
Physical & Work Requirements
Ability to work in various positions: standing, bending, under vehicles, or inside tight engine compartments.
Must be able to lift heavy components safely.
Comfortable working in a mobile environment and traveling to customer locations.
Optional but Valuable
Experience with fleet hybrid or electric vehicles.
Familiarity with advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) and electric drivetrain components.
Knowledge of mobile service workflow software and inventory management.
